Jaipur : Jaipur: A teacher suffered burn injuries when his bike’s petrol tank caught fire while smoking a cigarette outside the Drama Department of Rajasthan University on Thursday. Hearing screams amid the flames, the professor and students of the drama department came out. The fire was brought under control by pouring carpet and water. The seriously burnt teacher has been admitted to the burn ward of SMS Hospital, where his treatment is ongoing. ACP (Gandhi Nagar) Narayan Lal Bajiya said that the victim of the accident is Hrithik Malhotra (28), a resident of Barwa (Bassi). He is a third grade teacher in Dhani Banskhoh of Kharwals. Recently he was selected for the post of Physical Teacher (First Grade) and went to Ajmer for counselling. Returned to Jaipur on Wednesday night after counselling. Had gone to meet someone at Aravali Hostel in Jaipur on Thursday.
Gandhinagar Police Officer Rajkumar said that Hrithik Malhotra, who suffered 85 percent burns, told in his statement that earlier he used to live in Aravali Hostel only. He had gone to meet an acquaintance. There was also a girl with Hrithik. He stopped his bike to smoke a cigarette outside the drama department of the university. There was no petrol tank lid in his bike. The petrol tank caught fire while lighting a cigarette. Within no time the fire engulfed Hrithik.

young man Seeing her surrounded by flames, the girl accompanying her also tried to extinguish the fire. In the accident, the girl’s hair got burnt and her face got minor burns. The police is gathering information about who the girl was. Police also found a bottle at the spot which contained petrol. Where did this bottle come from and who brought it is being investigated.
