Jaipur Changes in syllabus and exam pattern in 3-year law degree, semester system implemented

Jaipur : Jaipur Rajasthan University has implemented the semester system for those taking admission in the three-year LLB degree in the session 2024-25 under the New Education Policy-2020. Under this, the syllabus and exam pattern has also been changed. There will be a paper of 100 marks in each subject. In which there will be external exam of 80 marks and internal exam of 20 marks. 20 marks in internal, 10 marks in project, 5 marks in oral and up to 5 marks will be given on the basis of students’ attendance in classes. This decision was taken in a meeting held in the hall itself.

According to experts, it is mandatory to implement semester system and change the syllabus as per the new education policy and Bar Council of India. In which students will have to be taught many subjects, especially three new criminal laws, cyber law, computers etc. As per the rules of the Bar Council of India, New Delhi, it is mandatory to study 20 compulsory, six optional and four clinical subjects before taking a law degree. The syllabus has been changed considering the BCI norms. This change will strengthen law education.

The focus will be on practical knowledge. Dr. Sanjula Thanvi, Dean (Law) of Rajasthan University, says that before the implementation of the semester system under the Bar Council of India and NEP, the examination was conducted once in a year. After implementing the semester system, the examination will be held twice. Earlier, five out of ten questions had to be attempted. Now the paper is divided into Part-1 and Part-2. Earlier Cyber, Computer and Competition Law were not subjects. From this year itself, three new criminal laws have been added along with internship in the last year.

Also the exam pattern has been changed. There will also be special focus on practical knowledge after going to court. So that in future, you will not have to face any kind of problem if you become a judicial officer or get appointed to any legal related post.
