Jaipur: Data of vehicles of other states should be searched, if tax is not deposited then fine will be imposed.

Jaipur : Jaipur: In the capital Jaipur, now strict action is being taken by the RTO against the vehicles purchased from other states and being driven. Checking the data of these vehicles has been started in the city. After this, notices will be issued to the concerned vehicle owners. Owners of these vehicles will have to provide proof that they are not operating the vehicle regularly in the city. If they are unable to provide such proof, heavy fines will be imposed against them.

Buying from other states to save tax: In fact, in neighboring states the registration fee for purchasing a vehicle is up to 5 percent, whereas in Rajasthan this fee is up to 12 percent. For this reason, people buy vehicles from other states and operate them in Jaipur, so that they can save on higher taxes. There are more than 10 thousand such vehicles in Jaipur, which are purchased from other states and are being driven here.

Tax evasion under Motor Vehicle Act

In this situation, the vehicle owner has to pay a fine of 10 to 12 percent of the registration fee of the latest model. We have sent letters to all the service centers of the city asking for data of vehicles coming from other states. After this, notices will be issued to all the vehicle owners and if they are unable to provide proof, fine will be imposed. -Rajendra Singh Shekhawat, RTO Jaipur Pratham
