Jaipur: Fastag, cash collection completely stopped on all state highways till next year

Jaipur : Toll collection on all state highways will start through Fastag by the first quarter of next year in Jaipur state. Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari has instructed the Principal Secretary of PWD to get this system installed as soon as possible at all the toll booths where Fastag system is not installed. Along with this, the Deputy Chief Minister has asked to get the system repaired at the booths where cash is being collected even after the system is installed. At present there are 186 toll booths on more than 74 state highways in Rajasthan. Of these, Fastag system has been installed at 172 toll booths. By next month, Fastag will be installed at 8 more booths. The Deputy Chief Minister has given instructions to install Fastag system at toll booths built on all the state highways of the state by the first quarter of next year.

Installed at 131 booths in one year
PWD Principal Secretary Praveen Gupta said – In less than a year, we have completed the work of Fastag installation at 131 toll booths. Online toll collection facility has been started on most of these. He told- Cash collection is still going on at the toll booths where the system has been installed. We will soon start online collection at such booths.

Current operators are not doing online recovery

Principal Secretary of PWD said – At present, there are many toll operators who are collecting cash on the online system even after installing it. They often deliberately sabotage the systems installed at these booths, so that they can make illegal recovery. Most of these operators are those whose tender period has completed and they are running on extension. Keeping this in view, we have now made tenders only on the basis of manpower. In this, we have only asked for manpower for management at toll booths, whereas since the entire collection will be online, the money will come directly into the government’s account. Its biggest advantage will be that there will be no illegal recovery.
