Jaipur IPS officer suspended for skipping election duty in Rajasthan

Jaipur : Election Commission has suspended Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Kishan Sahay of Rajasthan cadre. Kishan Sahay was posted as IG Human Rights at Meena Police Headquarters. He was posted in Jharkhand during the assembly elections. In this regard, the Election Commission has sent a letter to the Chief Secretary Rajasthan.

Election Commission wrote in the letter – Kishan Sahay Meena was posted as police observer in 67-Sisai, 68-Gumla and 69-Bishunpur of Gumla district in Jharkhand Assembly elections. Kishan Sahay left the place of duty on 28 October 2024 without the approval of the Commission.

It is written in the letter – The Election Commission appoints the police observer under the Constitution of India. Kishan Sahay’s name was sent by the Rajasthan government on 21 October. Kishan Sahay’s orders were given on 23 October. They were directed to report to the designated constituencies on October 24, a day before the last day for filing nominations.

They were ordered to leave the constituency only after verification of Form 17A and only if re-polling takes place. He left the constituency on 28 October. He had gone to Jaipur without taking permission from the Election Commission. The Election Commission considered it serious. On this, on November 11, letters were issued to the Chief Secretary and DGP and orders were given to suspend them.
