Jaipur : The government has extended the tenure of acting mayor of Jaipur Municipal Corporation Heritage, Kusum Yadav, by 60 days. After removing the then mayor Munesh Gurjar from the post, the government appointed Kusum Yadav as the acting mayor. On September 24, the government issued an order appointing Kusum Yadav as the acting mayor. At that time his tenure was of 60 days, which was completed yesterday. There were speculations that the government would issue an order tomorrow itself to extend his tenure.

Let us tell you that after the ACB presented the challan in the corruption case, Munesh Gurjar was suspended by the government from the post of councilor and mayor. Munesh’s husband Sushil Gurjar along with two other persons were arrested for demanding bribe in exchange for issuing the lease. ACB had also made Munesh Gurjar an accused in this case.

Fought elections as a rebel from BJP

Kusum Yadav rebelled and contested the elections as an independent candidate after not getting a ticket from BJP in the Municipal Corporation elections held in the year 2020. At that time, she defeated the BJP candidate and became a councilor by winning the election from Ward 74. However, after the victory, she herself went to BJP and supported it. After some time, BJP gave him back primary membership.

So far, 2 mayors have been appointed in both Municipal Corporation Greater and Municipal Corporation Heritage during their four-year tenure. Earlier, during the Gehlot government, apart from the current mayor of Greater Corporation, Dr. Soumya Gurjar, Sheel Dhabhai was also the caretaker here. Now after the suspension of Munesh Gurjar in the Bhajanlal government, Kusum Yadav has been appointed as the acting mayor.
