Jaipur : Jaipur Metro, which is most important for the public transport of Jaipur city, is once again stuck between BJP-Congress leaders. Due to this, the Metro has been able to cover a distance of only 11.3 km in 13 years. After construction of Metro Phase-1C and Phase-1D, the total distance of Metro would have become 16.15 distance. The work of Phase-1C Badi Chowpar to Transport Nagar had just started when it got stuck between Congress and BJP leaders. Its route is passing through three assemblies. Of these, there are Congress MLAs in two. It is believed that for this reason the work on this phase has been stopped. Now this metro can go till Ramgarh turn on Delhi Road. In this regard, two days ago, Hawamahal MLA Balmukundacharya has written a letter to UDH Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra.
Balmukundacharya said- All tourist places of the city on Ramgarh Mod route.
Balmukundacharya’s argument behind taking the metro from Badi Chaupar to Ramgarh Mod is that the major tourist places of the capital are in the walled area including Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal, City Palace, Govind Devji Temple, Kale Hanumanji Temple, Jaigarh, Nahargarh, Amer etc. Lakhs of tourists come every day. Because of this, there is excessive pressure of vehicles on the road. Keeping this in mind, the Jaipur Metro route running from Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar should be taken to Jal Mahal via Ramgarh turn on Delhi Bypass Road.
I condemn work stoppage, will protest if necessary
“Phase-1C of Metro is not for the people of any one assembly. It will benefit the people of the city including Parkote. The Congress government had started the metro work on this route after the DPR. The state government should not stop the work. I have also requested the CM not to stop the work. If necessary, I will protest. Who will be responsible for this?
-Amin Kaggi, MLA, Kishanpol
50 crores have already been spent, I will file a PIL
“This route is the most populated. Despite this, the government does not want to run metro on this route and is announcing metro in Vidyadhar Nagar which has no population. Metro work is going on for one year and Rs 50 crore has been spent. Now the government has stopped the work. I will file a PIL and also raise the matter in the Assembly.”
-Rafiq Khan, MLA, Adarsh Nagar
Second phase of metro has been stuck for 15 years, now DPR will be made for the 5th time, Rs 5 crore will be spent again
The second phase of Metro is entangled in DPR for 14 years. DPR has been made 4 times and Rs 20 crores have been spent. Despite this, the metro work did not take off. The second phase is to be built from Sitapura to Ambabadi-VKI. The first DPR was made regarding this, which is being changed again and again.
Every new government prepares its own DPR for the route. Sometimes the feasibility of Tonk Road and sometimes New Sanganer Road is checked. Now for the 5th time tender has been made for making DPR. The company will revise the old DPR and submit the new one. Like every time, around Rs 5 crore will be spent on this. Officials say that the possibility of extending RUHS along with Sitapura in DPR is being explored.
Earlier in DPR, the metro route was via Tonk Road to Sanganer. Now DPR is being made from Mansarovar Metro Station to Sanganer via New Sanganer. By comparing the passenger load on both the DPRs, the government will decide on which route to run the metro first.
First DPR in 2011
The first DPR of Sitapura to Ambabadi by the Congress government was prepared by Delhi Metro in 2011. About Rs 6 crore was spent on DPR. The government did not like the DPR due to its high cost.
Second DPR in 2017
The BJP government gave the tender to France’s Aegis Rail Company for revising the 2011 DPR in 2017. 6 crores were paid to the company. The government changed it before it could act on it.
Third DPR in 2020
The Congress government gave the tender to Delhi Metro to revise the DPR made in 2011 and 2017 in 2020. Lands of politicians were coming on this route, hence it was postponed.
DPR for the fourth time in 2023
The Congress government announced to make DPR for the fourth time in the budget of February 2023. Before this DPR was handed over to Delhi Metro, the government changed. 4 crores were spent on this.
