Jaipur : Jaipur Rising In Rajasthan, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma presented a sandalwood sword made by Jaipur artist Vinod Kumar Jangid to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Its specialty is that the biography of Maharana Pratap, the pride of Rajasthan, has been depicted on it. It is 40 inches long and weighs about 2 kg. Seven windows have been made on it, out of which 6 open in the front and one on the side. There is a statue of Maharana Pratap in the first window at the top. In the second window Chetak is shown crossing the drain. In the third window, the scene of Maharana Pratap’s meeting with Bhamashah has been carved. The fourth window depicts the dispute between Shakti Singh and Maharana Pratap over boar hunting. During Maharana Pratap’s struggle in the difficult times in the forest, he had to eat grass-fed bread, but that too was taken away by a cat and ran away. This poignant incident is shown in the fifth window. The Vijay Stambh, the symbol of pride of Mewar, is carved in the sixth window.
At the same time, in the bottom window opening on the side, Chetak mounted on Mansingh’s elephant and Maharana Pratap attacking with a spear has been shown in the battle of Haldighati. This sword has been carved on sandalwood wood by the artist with 2 years of intricate work and patience. Vinod Kumar is the first person in his family to be awarded the Shilp Guru Award in the year 2017. He has received National Award in 1995, State Award 1985, Maharaja Sajjan Singh Samman 2006. His family has received 11 national awards.
