There will be no problem in running Delhi-NCR buses after getting electric buses. The decision of the roadways administration to get electric buses can prove to be financially harmful for the roadways. Actually, the roadways administration will get ₹45 per kilometer of operating electric buses, while the private companies will have to pay the roadways administration at the rate of around ₹70 per km. In this way, roadways may have to suffer a loss of about Rs 25 per km.
With the availability of electric buses, it will be easier for the roadways administration to operate buses in Delhi NCR. These buses will be able to go inside Delhi city. Roadways administration will soon start the tender process for hiring and purchasing buses on contract. If roadways sources are to be believed, this process can be started this month itself. With the increase in the fleet of roadways buses, bus operations can be expanded to new cities outside the state as well. If permission is granted, bus service can also be started for Janakpur and Kathmandu of Nepal.
