Jaipur : Jaipur Rajasthan Roadways, which has been suffering from shortage of buses for a long time, will be adding new buses in the coming months. Along with this, the roadways administration has also started increasing buses on major routes. Soon the Roadways Administration will increase the frequency of AC buses on major routes. In fact, recently the Roadways Administration has started buses from Jaipur to Haldwani in Uttarakhand and Govardhanji in Uttar Pradesh. The roadways administration is happy with the good passenger load in these buses. Now similar buses will be started for new cities. In these, buses will be run on both routes outside the state and within the state. In such a situation, AC buses can be increased from Jaipur to Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Bikaner, Abu Road and other cities. At the same time, buses can be started outside the state for other states including UP, Chandigarh, Delhi. In the budget, the Roadways Administration was given approval to purchase 500 new buses and 800 buses on service model in 2 years. In this direction, the Roadways Administration will purchase 800 buses out of these 1300 buses this year. Of these, 300 buses will be purchased, while 500 buses will be taken on contract.
Electric buses are no longer a loss-making deal:
The decision of the roadways administration to adopt electric buses may prove to be financially harmful for the roadways. Actually, the roadways administration will get ₹45 per kilometer for operating electric buses. Whereas private companies will have to pay the roadways administration at the rate of about Rs 70 per km. In this way, roadways may have to suffer a loss of about Rs 25 per km. However, with the availability of electric buses, it will be easier for the roadways administration to operate buses in Delhi NCR. These buses will be able to go inside Delhi city. The Roadways Administration will soon start the tender process for hiring and purchasing buses on contract. If roadways sources are to be believed, this process can be started this month itself. With the increase in buses in the fleet of roadways, bus operations can be expanded to new cities outside the state also. If permission is granted, bus service can also be started for Janakpur and Kathmandu of Nepal.
This year the Roadways Administration will purchase 800 buses:
Roadways will purchase 300 new buses, out of which 288 express i.e. 3×2 Blue Line buses will be purchased and 12 superluxury (Volvo-Scania) category buses will also be purchased.
300 diesel buses will be taken on contract on service model, out of which 150 will be express buses, 100 Star Line non AC 2×2 buses. Whereas 30 AC 2×2 buses will be taken on contract. Apart from this, 20 superluxury class buses will be taken on contract.
For the first time, 200 electric buses will also be taken on contract, these electric buses will be of AC and superluxury category.
