Jaipur teacher’s annual salary hike halted, High Court bans it

Jaipur : Jaipur Rajasthan High Court has stayed the order of stopping the annual salary increment of a second class teacher of Mathematics subject due to negligence while teaching. Along with this, the court has issued notice to the Principal Secretary of Secondary Education, Director of Secondary Education and DEO, Jaipur Division and others and sought their reply in the matter. Justice Sudesh Bansal gave this order while conducting preliminary hearing on the petition filed by Pushkar Saini.

It was told in the petition that the petitioner is currently working as a second grade teacher of Mathematics in Government Darbar Higher Secondary English School, Sambhar Lake. The department issued a charge sheet to him in December, 2021 and withheld one of his annual increments in August, 2023 on a cumulative basis. He presented an appeal against this before the Director of Education. Which the Director of Education rejected on July 26, saying that he does not speak English while teaching the students. While challenging both the orders, it was said that he had completed his entire studies in Hindi language. Apart from this, it gives 100% exam result every year from appointment year 2015 to year 2023. Earlier this school was Hindi medium only, which was later converted into English medium. Hearing which, the single bench has put a stay on the order to stop the salary increase of the petitioner and has sought reply from the concerned officials.
