Akshay Regarding Akshay’s struggle, his mother Pratibha Bhatnagar told that when Akshay was just two years old, she realized that his behavior was different from normal children, he used to hesitate in living with other children. During this time, when the parents went to see the doctor, the ground slipped from under their feet and they came to know that Akshay has some challenges in socializing and behaviour, it is autism. With this the struggle for the entire family began. Akshay faced a lot of problems and obstacles while studying in school and college. Many times his mother, upset with the system, had to approach the court. From where he always got relief.

After learning that Akshay is autistic, his mother left her government job and focused on raising her son. After this Akshay was given speech therapy. Pratibha said that there is less awareness in the society about autism. In such a situation, these children are considered mentally handicapped. But there is a need to recognize the capabilities of these children, along with studies and government job, Akshay has won medals in sports by participating in many state, national and international level competitions.

Pratibha Bhatnagar told that Akshay also had to struggle a lot to get a government job. He told that the government has given reservation for the disabled in the autism category. But, he faced difficulties at every step including applying for jobs. Ultimately, he had to file petitions in the court to apply for autism category. After appearing in the competitive examination, Akshay got the job of clerk from the autism disabled quota.
