Nahargarh Fort is built at a height of 700 feet on the Aravalli Mountain. At that time, more than 3 lakh rupees were spent in building it. Indo-European art can be seen in its structure and design. This fort has also been a witness to the historical event of a treaty with the Maratha armies in the 18th century. Europeans were also accommodated in it. A major feature of this fort is that it has never been attacked. It is said that it is built at such a height that no enemy can even think of attacking it. Nahargarh Fort is connected to Jaigarh Fort by a large wall. At one time, Nahargarh Fort, along with Amer and Jaigarh Fort, served as an impenetrable fort for the protection of Jaipur and Amer. The walls of the fort were built during the day and fell down at night
There is also an interesting story related to this fort. It is said that earlier its name was Sudarshangarh but later it had to be named Nahargarh. The story told behind this is that when it was being constructed, all the work done during the day would fall at night. That is, all the walls built during the day would fall at night. Troubled by this, the king took the advice of a Tantrik. The Tantrik told that the soul of Yuvraj Nahar Singh, who died in the war, lives in the fort and it demolishes the work done during the day at night. Later, with the help of the Tantrik, he was appeased and this fort was named Nahargarh after his name. However, there is no scientific basis for this… but on the basis of these stories, people started calling this fort a haunted place and a scary fort. According to some historians, the people of Jaipur also call this fort by names like Sulakshan Durg, Sudarshan Garh, Tiger Fort, Jaipur Dhwajgarh, Jaipur Ka Mukut, Mahalon Ka Durg and Mithri Ka Kila. Some foreign tourists also call it Tiger Fort.

The Madhavendra Mahal of the fort is beautiful
In 1880, Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh planned to make this fort more beautiful and turn it into a monsoon retreat and he built a small palace inside the fort where the king could spend his holidays. That palace was called Madhavendra Mahal. Madhavendra Mahal is a very beautiful place in this fort. It has 12 rooms with similar designs. All these rooms were built by the king for his different queens. It is built in Victorian design. All the palaces of the queens are connected by a corridor on the roof. The corridor is connected to the palaces of the queens on both sides of the king’s room, from where the king could go to the room of any queen. Apart from Madhavendra Bhawan, beautiful designs have been made on the walls of other rooms in the fort. The beauty of this fort doubles at night. Due to being at a height, the view of the entire city looks beautiful from Nahargarh Fort. People who like adventure can also trek 2 kilometers to reach the fort. Because there is a 2 kilometre adventure track built near the fort walls.

Nahargarh Zoological Park is worth visiting
A large water well and Nahargarh Zoological Park are also worth visiting in the fort. There is a pistol in the Nahargarh Fort which was used to give the signal of firing. The main gate of the fort is called ‘Tadigate’ and next to it is the temple of the deities of the kings of Jaipur. There is another temple inside this fort, which was built in the name of Nahar Singh Bhomia. The Nahargarh Zoological Park built in the fort is very spectacular. This park is spread over an area of more than 7 square kilometers. There are special types of vegetation here. Animals like leopard, Bengal tiger, Asiatic lion, leopard, wolf, deer, crocodile, Himalayan black bear, sloth bear, wild boar and hyena are also kept in it. There are also 285 species of birds in this park.
