Jaisalmer : Jaisalmer Municipal Council is among those 49 local bodies of Rajasthan, where the tenure of the elected board has ended and now the administrative officer has been appointed as the administrator. In Jaisalmer, this responsibility has been handed over to the Additional Collector and in such a situation, Munniram Bagadiya formally took over the work of the Administrator recently but he is going to retire after a day. In such a situation, if the government does not immediately post any RAS officer on the post of Additional Collector, then the question will arise that who should be given the responsibility of the post of administrator in the Municipal Council in his place?
On the other hand, due to the appointment of Administrative Officer as Administrator in the Municipal Council, now all the activities there have come into the hands of the government machinery. This situation was before November-December of the year 1994. At that time, municipality existed in Jaisalmer and its entire management was the responsibility of the Collector. Surveys were held because after the amendment in the constitution, elections were held democratically in the body only in the last period of 1994. Since then, the Chairman and Chairman were elected respectively in Jaisalmer Municipality and later in the upgraded Municipal Council. Except once, only the elected ward councilors have elected the President/Chairman. Only once in 2009 was the direct election of the Speaker held and in that Ashok Tanwar of Congress was elected. Since then, the election of the body head has never been conducted through the direct system.
Condition The tenure of the 45-member board has ended, along with the elected members, people who had failed to win the elections in the past and new aspirants have started preparing for the upcoming council elections. They are exploring possibilities for themselves in the wards. It is noteworthy that the work of re-delimitation of wards and voter lists will go on in the next four months. After that the government will take further decisions.Total Overall, after three decades, the command of the local body has come into the hands of the administration and due to there being no interference of the elected representatives of the public in its functioning, along with the common people, the previously elected councilors etc. are also unable to understand that now How will the work be done? This confusion is so prevalent that people ask old employees questions about this. However, even in the staff of the Municipal Council, there are hardly any people left who had worked during the Denotified Area Committee period. Here, people are also afraid that due to the absence of public representatives from the system, the government machinery might start working in an autocratic manner.
