Jaisalmer News Desk: The campaign against adulteration of pure food items is continuing in Jaisalmer district. Under this campaign, the Food Safety Department team took action to collect samples of about 20 food items in the city. Food Safety Officer Praveen Choudhary said – after taking samples of food items from various shops in the city, all the samples were sent to Jodhpur for testing. Further action will be taken after the test report of the samples comes. Taking samples of 20 food items, FSO Praveen Chaudhary said – As per the instructions of Commissioner Food Safety and Drug Control, Rajasthan, the campaign against adulteration of pure food items is going on continuously in all the districts of Rajasthan. In Jaisalmer district too, in view of the upcoming tourist season and wedding season, action was taken to collect samples in the city under the direction of CMHO Dr. BL Bunkar.
Under this, a total of 20 items of food items like ghee, oil, cheese, curd, chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, semolina, namkeen, sugar boiled sweets, toffee, chocolate etc. will be confiscated from restaurants and grocery shops in the city on the basis of suspicion of adulteration. Samples were taken. Also, about 25 kg of poorly cooked rice and poha were destroyed. Food Safety Officer Choudhary said – All the food samples taken on the basis of suspicion will be sent to the Public Health Laboratory, Jodhpur and further legal action will be taken as per the report received from there. Besides, under the Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 2.0, challan was also issued under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003 Act. Food vendors were made aware and instructed not to display tobacco products outside and display information boards with necessary warnings.
