Jaisalmer : Jaisalmer Traveling is no less than a challenge for disabled people. There are no concrete arrangements for public transport in the city. Roads, buses and other public vehicles lack facilities keeping in mind their special needs. In Jaisalmer, famous for tourism and historical heritage, public transport travel is no less than a struggle for the disabled. Lack of facilities like ramps, Braille signs and special seats has made their everyday life extremely difficult. Roadways and private buses do not have ramps, dedicated seats, and adequate space for wheelchairs. There is neither a ramp nor any special signage for the disabled at the bus stop. In such a situation, it can be easily estimated how unsafe and inconvenient their journey would be.
Teacher Ramesh Singh says that providing facilities to disabled people in buses is their need, those responsible should keep this in mind. Housewife Sunita Devi says that if crores can be spent on tourism, then why not arrange small facilities for the disabled? Similarly, businessman Rajesh Kumar says that the progressive image of Jaisalmer will be realized only when every class gets equal rights. Here the reality is also that despite the difficulties, disabled people have worked hard to maintain a normal life and make their presence felt in the society. Their courage, confidence and struggle prove that they can face any challenge.
need for effective efforts
