Jalore : Millionaire Farmer of India Award ceremony was organized by Krishi Jagran on Saturday at Pusa Maidan, Delhi to honor the progressive farmers who have done remarkable work in the agriculture sector in Tura village of Sayla area of Jalore. In this, farmer Sonaram Mali, resident of Tura village of the district, was honored with the Millionaire Farmer of India Award. This award is given to the farmers who have done excellent work in the field of agriculture and earn an income of more than Rs 10 lakh, which increases the income of the farmers. This is in line with the government’s goal of doubling and boosting agricultural productivity.
Sonaram Mali was formerly a businessman in Bengaluru, but due to his interest in agriculture and connection with his village, he left the business and came in contact with Krishi Vigyan Kendra Keshavna for farming. Sonaram was inspired to cultivate pomegranate by the scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Keshavna. Based on the technical information given by the scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Keshwana about pomegranate and other horticultural crops, farmer Sonaram earned lakhs of rupees from pomegranate and demonstrated agriculture as a business. Through Krishi Vigyan Kendra Keshwana Farmer Sonaram Mali was nominated for the Millionaire Farmer of India Award, after which he was honored at a program organized in Delhi.
