Jhalawar : In the largest SRG hospital of the district, patients are facing trouble for sonography test. Due to lack of sufficient machines and faculty in the Radiology Department, normal patients are being given a date after one month for sonography examination. Only serious and admitted patients are being examined. Surprisingly, at present a sonography examination machine is running, on this machine sonography of 70 patients is being done every day. For the last 6 months, the department has been doing the work somehow by getting a machine repaired in the district SRG hospital. Also, we have written several times to the hospital and medical college administration for a new machine and faculty, but till now neither the new sonography machine nor the staff has been found.
Sonography test is not done after OPD. Despite being Jhalawar Medical College and the biggest hospital of the district, there is no sonography facility after OPD. No matter how serious a patient comes, if he needs sonography after OPD, he will have to go to a private center to get tested because the radiology department does not have a faculty. If there is a general investigation then a date will be given, for special investigation you will have to wait. When the team took stock of the radiology department, the patients here were seen worried for sonography. In the sonography room, the female staff first asks whether the patient is admitted? When the patient refused, he was asked to go to the X-ray room and take an appointment.
In the X-ray room he got the date of 28th December for sonography test. If the patient is admitted or has any special test, then he was given a number and made to sit outside. The situation is such that even a patient who comes at 10 in the morning has to wait for at least two to three hours for examination.
So the patient should wait for the treatment for a month. Doctors prescribe sonography test only when it is necessary for them to get this test done for any treatment of the patient.
Here, due to lack of sonography machines and faculty in the radiology department, patients are being given dates after a month. In such a situation, will patients have to wait for a month to get their treatment?
Expert View- There will be no shortage of radiologists if the government provides faculty.
The biggest problem in the radiology department is manpower. If the government provides faculty to the department and PG classes are started here, then radiologists will be prepared here. In such a situation, there will be no problem of manpower. Patients will be examined on time and they will get quality treatment. ^There is a shortage of sonography machine in the radiology department, for this the department has sent a demand to the medical college administration. Efforts are being made by them for a new machine.
1. The department does not have manpower: District SRG Hospital has a head of department, radiologist Dr. Vipasha, and two trained doctors as assistants. Among them, Dr. Ashwini is suffering from heart disease and the other Dr. Salim is suffering from pain in his hand. Both do normal sonography tests. Due to the burden on the same doctor, normal patients are getting longer appointments.
2. Not enough machines, three doctors are examining on one machine: Earlier there were two sonography machines in the district hospital, but six months ago one machine broke down. There were three doctors doing the examination on one machine. General tests as well as special tests are done on the same machine. In such a situation, the date is being given after one month. Jhalawar. Only one sonography machine at the testing centre.
