Jhalawar accused of raping a minor gets 20 years imprisonment

Jhalawar : Special Judge of POCSO Court-2, on Tuesday, after finding the accused guilty in the case of rape of a minor girl, gave a verdict within ten months and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. Also punished with a fine of Rs 70 thousand.

Special Public Prosecutor Ramehtar Gurjar said that on August 20, 2023, the complainant gave a written report stating that his minor daughter had gone to a relative’s house. From where the accused coaxed her and took her away. A report was lodged on this at Aklera police station. The police arrested the victim and recorded her statement.

The victim told that the accused lured her and took her to Kota where she raped her for a month. The police arrested the accused, since then the accused was in jail. Special Public Prosecutor Ramhetar Gurjar, appearing on behalf of Rajasthan Government, presented 17 witnesses and 21 documents in the case. On the basis of this, the court found the accused guilty and Special Judge Ganesh Kumar sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 70 thousand.

The court has recommended financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the victim under the Victim Compensation Scheme.
