Jhalawar : The government changed the name of the animal insurance scheme, but due to not issuing the guidelines yet, the animal farmers are facing problems. At present there is no insurance cover for animals. This year, the name of the Animal Insurance Scheme was changed by the State Government and it was announced to start the Chief Minister Mangala Animal Insurance Scheme. Even after eight months, the Animal Husbandry Department officials have not received any guidelines. In such a situation, if animal farmers have to face loss of animals in any disaster, they will not be able to get assistance.
The plan lost its strength as soon as the government changed.
The previous state government had started the Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Bima Yojana as a pilot project in all the districts and got thirty animals each insured. By depositing the insurance premium at the government level, the victim cattle rearer was given financial assistance of forty thousand rupees per death of milch animal. After this, when the new government was formed in the state, this scheme was stopped unannounced. Even after almost one and a quarter years since the scheme started, more than thirty animals have not been insured in any district. No insurance scheme of any kind is currently effective at the government level.
