Jhalawar : Rajasthan government has issued approval to build a city forest in Jhalawar city, after which the Forest Department will now develop Jhalawar’s famous forest area Thandi Jhiri Mangalnath Ki Dungaree as a City Forest. The Forest Department claims that this area will now turn into a forest in a few years and city dwellers will be able to see the forest even in the city. At the same time, due to trees and plants, this place will remain cool even in summer, which the general public will be able to enjoy. Former Chief Minister and local MLA Vasundhara Raje Scindia has formally started the work here by planting the first sapling in this city forest.
Now Mangal will happen in the jungle
To attract people to the forest, some facilities will also be developed for the general public, which the general public can enjoy after reaching there. Deputy Forest Conservator Sagar Panwar said that along with planting a large number of saplings in the city forest area, jogging tracks, cycle tracks, open gyms and various types of gardens will be built. He said that a city forest will be built in a total area of 50 hectares in Mangalnath Pahadi Dungri area. An attractive gate displaying local architecture and wildlife culture will be built for entering the city forest. Binoculars will also be arranged for tourists.
175 lakh rupees will be spent
An amount of Rs 175 lakh has been sanctioned by the state government for the Nagar Van to be built in Jhalawar, the first installment of which is Rs 122.50 lakh has been received. Assistant Forest Conservator Sanju Kumar Sharma said that to protect the plantations in the Nagar Van area Mangalnath hill from grazing and to prevent unauthorized entry, 1000 meter long weblink fencing and 1500 meter long wall height will be increased by 2 feet. In Nagar Van, a 3 km long 12 feet wide large walking path and a 5 feet wide and 1.5 km walking path will be constructed and 500 meter eco trail will be developed on the main road. It is also proposed to construct huts and benches with attractive paintings for tourists to sit. Toilets, dustbins and tanks for clean drinking water will be arranged near the main gate. A watch tower will be constructed to admire the natural beauty and it will also be developed as a watch tower.
The city forest will be covered with fruit and flower trees
Mainly 5000 fruit plants of different species, evergreen and aromatic plants and grasslands will be developed and shrubs, large and shady plants of local species will be planted in the city forest.

According to the information received from the Forest Department, with the development of this city forest, the number of rainy days will increase in Jhalawar-Jhalrapatan region and more water will be stored in water sources. A micro-climate will be created and the atmosphere will become relaxed, there will be better conservation of water and soil, wildlife and their natural habitat will be protected, eco-tourism will develop and with the promotion of tourism, employment for the local people will increase, encroachment and illegal mining in Lotiyajhar forest area will be controlled, awareness about the environment will be created among the general public. Apart from this, a new tourist destination will be developed between Gagron Fort and Kalisindh Dam, which are included in the World Heritage, for the tourists coming to the district.
