Talking about the sale of this water chestnut in Jhalawar district, dozens of vendors are engaged in selling it from morning till evening at Tindhar intersection on Aklera road in the city as well as in the district. They earn around Rs 500 to Rs 700 a day. The water chestnuts sold here are produced in the pond of nearby Reechhwa village.

Water chestnuts are taken out from the pond during the last months of October, November and December. These days it is being sold in the market at a price of Rs 60 to Rs 80 per kg. Water chestnut is used in two ways. First, when it is produced, it is eaten and later after drying, when it becomes flour, it is also used during fasting.
