Jhalawar : The dam built on the Richhad River under the Roshanbari Minor Irrigation Project of Jhalawar region was completely filled due to continuous rains this year. In such a situation, after a long wait, water was released in the canals for the farmers but they are not getting water through the sprinkler system. At a distance of every one kilometer along the canal, the department made diggis for pumping water and installed pump sets, but till now neither electricity connections have been made nor meters have been installed. In such a situation, irrigation from sprinklers has not started in the fields yet.
According to the information, the concerned contractor should have repaired the diggers by testing the pipeline system at the time of repairing the canal. Regarding this, the officials of the Irrigation Department and the Electricity Corporation were informed several times that the canal diggers should be repaired and connections should be issued by installing meters, but the farmers have been making rounds of the departments for 25 days. 2860 thousand hectares of agricultural land of 14 villages is to be irrigated through canal and fountain system, but due to the negligence of the administration, water has not yet reached the farmers’ fields.
