Jhunjhunu : Jhunjhunu A female panther died on Sunday near Kirawanda Kund in Mansa Mata Panther Safari area. The Forest Department received information in the morning that a panther was injured. On information, Regional Forest Officer Udaipurwati Indrapura Vijay Kumar Fagedia along with his team reached the spot. There, a female panther about 2 years old was found in an injured condition near the water hole. On being informed, the medical team arrived. But the panther died before the treatment could begin. After getting the post-mortem done by the board, the body was cremated.
The forest department neither has a permanent veterinarian nor a tranquilizer gun.
There is a large forest area in the district, two panther safaris, but the forest department here does not have a permanent veterinarian for the treatment of wild animals. The post of veterinarian here has been lying vacant for many days due to the veterinarians appointed on deputation going back to their parent departments. There is not even a tranquilizer gun used to render the animal unconscious before rescue and treatment. If such a disaster occurs, doctors and tranquilizer guns have to be procured from Jaipur itself. Who come from a distance of about 150 kilometers from the forest area here.
The last rites were performed after getting the post-mortem done by the board.
On receiving information about the incident, park conservator Jhunjhunu Banwari Lal Nehra reached the spot. The dead female panther was brought to Udaipurwati Indrapura Nursery. Udaipurwati Block Veterinary Officer Dr. Mitthu Meena, Dr. Surendra Kumar Saini Indrapura, Dr. Vinod Kumar Gurjar Pachalangi, Rohitash Jeff Raghunathpura and a team of other doctors from the Animal Husbandry Department conducted the post-mortem of the dead panther. After the post-mortem, the body was buried in the presence of higher administration officials, police administration, senior forest department officials, villagers and the medical team of the animal husbandry department.
