Jhunjhunu : Khetri’s cabbage, tomato, chilli, onion and brinjal plants have made their mark not only in Shekhawati but also in nearby Haryana and Alwar districts. There are five-six nurseries built in the town on State Highway No. 13 on the way from the bus stand to Dhobi Ghat. In these nurseries, seedlings of cabbage, chilli, tomato, brinjal and onion, which have been grown in Khetri for last 8 decades, are grown in Jhunjhunu, Churu, Sikar districts, besides Narnaul of nearby Haryana, Mahendragarh, Gurugram, Rewari and Behrrod, Bardod of Alwar district and Jaipur district. People up to Kotputli are in demand among the farmers who grow vegetables. Farmers come to Khetri and take saplings. The work of selling saplings goes on throughout the year in these nurseries.
Khetri area has a big name in preparing vegetable seedlings. The seedlings grown in Khetri are the first choice of vegetable growing farmers of Kotputli of Jaipur district, Behror Bardod of Alwar district, Bansur, Narnaul of Haryana, Mahendragarh, Rewari and Gurugram. Farmers from there come here and take saplings. His great grandfather Lachchuram Jalandra of Khetri area had started the work of preparing seedlings of cabbage, tomato, onion, brinjal and chilli about 90 years ago. Today he is doing the work of preparing saplings in the fourth generation. Today he has a nursery for preparing saplings in about 30 bighas at four different places. His saplings are in Haryana, Shekhawati and Alwar districts and Kotputli. There is huge demand.
We prepare seedlings of onion, tomato, cabbage and brinjal with completely organic fertilizer, which produces good quality seedlings. For this reason, there is a great demand for seedlings in Kotputli, Bansur, Bardod, Behrod, Narnaul, Mahendragarh, Rewari and Shekhawati areas. In Khetri, we have been growing cabbage, chilli, tomato, brinjal and onion seedlings for about 70 years since the time of our grandfather Hanuman Prasad. Let’s prepare.
