Jhunjhunu Sansa campaign started in Jhunjhunu for prevention of pneumonia

Jhunjhunu : Sansa campaign was started on Friday by the Medical and Health Department to protect children up to 5 years of age from pneumonia in Jhunjhunu. The theme of the campaign has been kept as ‘If there is no pneumonia then childhood is good’. This campaign will run till 28 February 2025.

After starting the campaign from Government BDK Hospital, Acting CMHO Dr. Bhanwar Lal Sarva said that under the Sans campaign, screening of all children aged 0 to 5 years for pneumonia, pneumonia skill lab training to medical officers and nursing officers, Promotional material will be displayed at medical institutions, orientation will be given on availability of essential medicines, identification of symptoms and management of pneumonia.

He said that by adopting the main component of the campaign, PPT i.e. Prevent, Protect and Treat strategy, it will be ensured to administer all three doses of pentavalent and PCV vaccine. Besides, beds are being reserved for children suffering from pneumonia in PHC, CHC and district hospitals. Treatment of pneumonia and severe pneumonia is being provided as per protocol.

Dr. Jitendra Bhambu, Pediatrician, BDK Hospital, said that through regular visits by ASHAs at the community level, children are identified on the basis of symptoms like cough, phlegm, rapid breathing, moving ribs, difficulty in breathing, etc. Our district’s rating in pneumonia control is much better, and there is no dearth of resources to deal with pneumonia.

He told that through Sans Abhiyan i.e. awareness about pneumonia, we have to bring awareness like heart attack, just as promptness is shown in the treatment of heart diseases, similar promptness has to be shown in the case of pneumonia so that deaths due to pneumonia can be prevented. .
