Jhunjhunu Ten days of water is left in Malsisar tank, there will be panic

Jhunjhunu : Drinking water crisis will soon increase in 359 villages of the district including Jhunjhunu city. There is only ten days of water left in the storage tank built in Malsisar. At present there is no hope of further water coming. In such a situation, people of cities and villages will face water crisis even during winter. In fact, under the Indira Gandhi Canal Project, canal water coming from Kumbaram Lit Canal is supplied to 359 villages of the district including Jhunjhunu, Mandawa, Bagad, Khetri, Gothra. This water comes from Taranagar to the storage tank built in Malsisar, where water is supplied to the said villages. But for the last few days, there is not enough water coming into the Malsisar storage tank. According to the officials, about 80 MLD of water is required for supply in the said villages whereas at present only 32 to 35 MLD of water is available. Due to this, earlier water supply was being done daily in the city, but now water is being supplied every other day.

this much water is left

The capacity of Malsisar’s storage tank is 6300 MLD water but at present only 1400 MLD water is left in it. Out of this, drinking and supplyable water is only 700 MLD. In such a situation, officials believe that it is not possible to supply water to 359 villages with this much water on a daily basis. This storage of water is only for ten days. If water is not available in the meantime, the situation may become dire. Storage can increase only if water is added. Then water supply can be done accordingly.

That’s why there was shortage of water

It is being told that these days irrigation work is going on in the fields. Water is being stolen from the open canal towards Taranagar. Due to this, water is not able to reach Malsisar Dam. In such a situation, unless irrigation work is stopped, it will be difficult to get water. Officials believe that sufficient water will be available in Malsisar Dam only by February.

no plans

The shortage of water is well known but at present the authorities do not have any plan on how to deal with this crisis. He only says that the ten days water present in the dam will be used for a maximum of twenty days. Besides, a press note has been issued informing the city residents about the measures to save water.
