Jodhpur: 865 kg ganja was sent to the district by paying Rs 8.50 lakh as advance to a local smuggler from Odisha.

Jodhpur : Jodhpur Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Jodhpur arrested the absconding kingpin in the case of seizing 865 kg of ganja packed in 169 packets in Jhalamand Bypass and Guda Bishnoian village six and a half months ago. Through him, ganja was being supplied around IIT Jodhpur, NLU, S, NIFT and other high class educational institutions. Till now six accused have been arrested and two-three accused are still absconding. ACB Regional Director Ghanshyam Soni said that under Operation Shankar, on May 23, 71 packets filled with ganja were seized from the Bolero pickup on Jhalamand Bypass and Anil. Was arrested. After interrogating him, 99 packets containing 5 kg each of ganja were seized from the house of Bhagirath Bishnoi in Guda Bishnoiyan village. Of these, 865 kg of ganja was seized. Since then he had absconded. Mehram had sent this ganja from Odisha. Its cost in the market was estimated at Rs 4.30 crore. Based on the information received from the informer, NCB, after the search, arrested Mehram (39), son of Mangilal Bishnoi, resident of Vinayakpura Bhavad. He is being interrogated. NCB arrested Anil Kumar and Guman Gehlot on 23 May, Narendra on 25 May, Baldev alias Bunty Gehlot on 13 September, Bhagirath Bishnoi on 22 October and now Mehram. Rakesh Sai alias Rocky and Sau of Odisha are still wanted.

Mehram is the king pin among smugglers of Odisha and Jodhpur.

NCB says that Mehram had gone to Odisha in 2004 to work as a labourer. He worked as a laborer making bread for two years. He had purchased a tractor in the year 2006. In the year 2007 and 2008, two more tractors were purchased. After this he also bought the Pockland machine. Then land was purchased in the village. He had come in contact with ganja suppliers in Odisha. He became a partner in Rakesh and Baldev and Ganja supplier.
