Jodhpur : In the Surgical Oncology Department of AIIMS Jodhpur, a complex operation (Robotic Pulmonary Sleeve Resection) was successfully performed to save the lung by cutting the lung and trachea using a robot.
In the Department of Surgical Oncology, AIIMS Jodhpur, a 22 year old patient suffering from lung and trachea (bronchus) cancer was treated with the help of robotic technology by cutting the upper part of the lung and the trachea and then reattaching the lower half of the lung. Operation done successfully. Dr. Jeevan Ram Vishnoi, Head of the Department of Surgical Oncology and Additional Professor, said that a 22-year-old youth resident of Ganganagar was complaining of a lot of blood in the sputum. For this, first at Ganganagar and then at AIIMS Jodhpur, Professor of Pulmonary Medicine, Nishant Bhardwaj, conducted binocular tests and biopsy. This cancer was detected.
This cancer was also blocking the upper part of the right lung and the windpipe. Due to this reason, there was a lot of bleeding along with cough and breathing problems. To remove this type of tumor surgically, the entire right lung may have to be removed.
And because this operation is quite complex, it is done by opening the entire chest by making a very big incision. In which the patient takes a lot of time to recover from the operation and after the operation, there is a possibility of the patient having many complications like pneumonia, chest pain, keeping in ICU. After this, the operation of this patient was well planned by the departments of Surgical Oncology, Anesthesia and Pulmonary Medicine together.
