Jodhpur: Emphasis will be on cooling system for EV car battery, it will run 350-400 km.

Jodhpur : Center of Excellence for Electrical Vehicle (EV) will be set up in the Department of Electrical Engineering, MBM University. In this, there will be research on various components of EV including design of EV vehicles, increasing battery efficiency, charging stations. The main focus of the research will be on increasing the efficiency of batteries in hot regions like Rajasthan. For this, a prototype of the battery’s cooling system will be prepared. At present, the EV vehicle which runs for 300 kilometers in winter with a 50 kWh battery, starts giving a mileage of 200 kilometers by June. Due to this, the cost of EV becomes expensive for the drivers.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan, MBM University has received a grant of Rs 20 crore, out of which the Excellence Sector of EV has also been approved. For this, there will be separate building and other infrastructure of EV, laboratory and equipment of EV. It is noteworthy that the Central Government has issued an EV policy in the country this year.
