Jodhpur : Jodhpur The Rajasthan High Court, while hearing a PIL in the case of direct release of polluted water from textile industries in Luni river in Balotra city, directed the Balotra Collector, Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, Rajasthan Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RICO) and Balotra Water Pollution Control Treatment. Has issued a notice to And Reverse Osmosis Private Limited and sought a reply. In the division bench of Justice Manindra Mohan Srivastava and Justice Munnuri Laxman. Advocate Manish Patel, on behalf of petitioner Sawal Ram, said that textile industries are established in the RIICO industrial area near the Luni river passing near Balotra city. The polluted water from these industries goes to the Common Eluent Treatment Plant (CETP) operated by Balotra Water Pollution Control Treatment and Reverse Osmosis Private Limited. Patel said that the High Rate Transpiration System (HRTS) being used by CETP is not approved by any competent authority. Polluted water is being released into Luni river without purification through HRTS. He said that many factories in Rico industrial area are connected to CETP, but the polluted water from there is released into rain drains through HRTS, and then it is discharged into Luni river without purification.
He said that due to this pollution the environment of the entire Balotra city has been contaminated, due to which aquatic animals are dying. The water of the wells in the areas around Luni River has become contaminated with chemicals and is no longer fit for drinking, which is adversely affecting the health of humans and animals. After the preliminary hearing, the division bench directed Additional Advocates General SS Ladrecha and Sajjan Singh Rathore on behalf of the state government and Advocate Sanjit Purohit on behalf of RIICO to accept the notice and file their reply.
