Jodhpur : Jodhpur State Government has determined the wards afresh on the basis of population in the state bodies. According to this, now only if there is more than 35 lakh population in a body, more than 150 wards will be formed. The population of Jodhpur is about 13 lakhs. In such a situation, if only one corporation is formed in Jodhpur, then depending on the population, 100-105 wards can be formed here. The biggest impact of having only one municipal corporation will be on the cleanliness survey. The ranking of the city will improve. The budget from the government will also be received on the same basis.
The previous Congress government had earmarked 150 wards for a population of more than 15 lakh. This decision was opposed by BJP, but considering the political scenario, Congress formed two corporations in Jodhpur. Along with the common people, the corporation also had to bear the brunt of this. The state government first made the Municipal Corporation 100 wards instead of 65 and then divided the Corporation into two parts and made two Municipal Corporations of 80 wards each, but the area was not increased for this.
If these areas are included then the scope and revenue of the city will increase.
Although Rameshwar Nagar, Kudi Bhagatasani Housing Board has been included in the Municipality, but if this area comes under the Corporation, then the people here will get many facilities like cleanliness, lights. Apart from this, there are about 6 areas like Pal, Digadi, which are adjacent to the Municipal Corporation area. These areas have become a part of the city for more than a decade. More than 2.5 lakh population lives in these. If the corporation expands its wards in these areas, the corporation will benefit from revenue along with the increase in coverage.
Administrative staff increased, but people did not get relief
After having two municipal corporations, the administrative staff increased. In both the corporations, the posts of three Zone Deputy Commissioners as well as one Headquarters Deputy Commissioner and Additional Commissioner were increased, but the staff remained the same. The working style of the staff and officers was such that even after four years people are confused whether their area is in the North or the South. Due to this, people’s work gets stuck. There was also a dispute between the North and South Corporation regarding garbage disposal. Recently, to empty the garbage of Corporation North, we had to resort to the dumping stations of Corporation South.
