Jodhpur NGT sets deadline for construction of STP in the district

Jodhpur : Jodhpur National Green Tribunal (NGT) has given strict instructions to complete the construction work of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Jodhpur within the stipulated time limit. The Bhopal-based central bench of NGT, on the news published in this order, has given its own instructions. -Given while hearing the petition filed on the basis of cognizance, in which it was revealed that the chemical waste water being released by the industrial units is reaching Araba. NGT said that the construction work of 15 MLD capacity STP in Vivek Vihar Scheme should be completed by 28 February 2025.

The deadline has been set for April 30, 2025, for the 10 MLD STP in Uchiarada, while instructions have been given to complete the construction of 40 MLD STP in Basni Benda by December 31, 2024 and start testing from January 15, 2025. In Khokhriya, 10 MLD The work of the high capacity STP will have to be completed by August 2025. Giving information about completion of 40 percent work of the STP under construction in Salawas, the Tribunal has asked to complete it by August 31, 2025 under any circumstances. Instructions have been given to complete the construction of the proposed STP on Jojri Railway Bridge by 13 February 2025.

Apart from this, the decision on financial approval required for the construction of STP at Nandadi has been asked to be taken within a month, so that the tender process can start soon. NGT has also made Jodhpur Development Authority (JDA) a party in this case and ordered it to file the progress report by March 15, 2025. A detailed report has also been called for on action against illegal factories and recovery of environmental compensation. The order also clarified that closed industrial units will not be allowed to operate unless they install ETPs. Emphasizing the need for timely completion of all projects, the tribunal has fixed March 24, 2025 for the next hearing.
