Jodhpur pensioners are not getting essential medicines for eight months

Jodhpur : Jodhpur 82 year old Vijaykaur is on oxygen support at home. She was discharged from the hospital four days ago. Medicines prescribed from private hospitals are not covered under RGHS. In such a situation, family members are forced to buy even normal medicines from the market. This problem is not of the elderly Vijaykaur alone, but many pensioners and their dependents are facing problems. Many elderly people, who at this stage of age need medicines which supply vitamins, calcium and food nutrition, are facing problems. The government has imposed an undeclared ban. These elderly people are not getting these medicines in Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS). This problem has been there for the last six-eight months. Many times they raise their views, but there is a problem due to lack of monitoring of RGHS at the local level. Along with the problems that hospitalized patients are facing in getting treatment, this problem is also a major one.

Unannounced ban on these medicines also

In view of the possibility of irregularities in RGHS, the government has banned drug sellers from providing medicines like multi vitamins, calcium, iron, protein powder. Now even doctors are avoiding prescribing such medicines. The bills for the prescriptions in which such medicines are written are not being passed.

problems for patients

For RGHS pensioners who have crossed 70 years of age, Vitamin D3, Bicosule capsules, calcium supplements were important. This was necessary to provide strength and strengthen the bones. But now such medicines are not being given. Even medicated soap and shampoo are not being given in case of skin diseases. Protein powder given to pregnant women was also excluded from this. Lactic salt, the most prescribed medicine after operation, is also not being approved under this scheme. Avinash Singhi, Organization Secretary of Jodhpur Chemist Association, said that in such cases, first objections are raised and then the shopkeeper’s payment is stopped. After this, one by one many such salts have been removed from RGHS.

Initiative to stop irregularities, but patients face trouble

This initiative was taken to prevent irregularities, but the genuine patients are facing problems. Many pensioners told that the medicines which were being taken for years have been stopped and there is no alternative.
