Jodhpur : Construction of the drain has started two months ago after removing the obstacles coming in the way of drainage of rain water in the RTO drain under Jodhpur Sardarpura Assembly. Utility shifting work is going on in the first phase. Drain construction is expected to accelerate after the utility shift. If this work is completed on time, then it is expected that the problem of waterlogging during monsoon will be relieved in the year 2026. The work of construction of the drain is being done by RUIDP. More than Rs 100 crore will be spent on the construction of RTO drain.
In the first 20 years, 5 plans were made, but not a single plan could come to fruition. Due to some or the other obstacles in every plan, RTO drain could not be connected to Jojri for the last 20 years. Due to this, every monsoon rain water flows up to 2 feet on the open road. Due to this, about 3 km long road from Banar to Khokhariya was turning into potholes. People of 30 to 35 colonies face the problem of waterlogging for 20-25 days, but now after the start of drain construction, they are free from waterlogging that has been happening for 20 years.

RTO drain will now be built on one side of the Jodhpur-Jaipur highway. At present utility shifting work is going on. After this the drain construction work will gain momentum. It is being claimed that the drain construction work will be completed before the monsoon in the year 2026. JDA has also started road repair work.
The then state government had issued a work order for the construction of RTO drain and Bhairav drain at a cost of Rs 320.20 crore. Then the construction of Bhairav drain started, but due to dispute over alignment and design, the RTO drain got stuck. More than Rs 100 crore will be spent on the construction of a 7 km long drain. Now the hurdles have been removed and construction has started two months ago.

fifth proposal
In the year 2019, JDA had sent the same proposal to the then Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Its survey was also done, Mutams were also installed, but this plan also could not take off due to blockage of reception of some Khasras from RTA to Saran ROB. After this, the dispute regarding the space on the 80 feet road started increasing, so JDA abandoned the plan after constructing the road.

fourth proposal
In 2013-14, the then mayor Rameshwar Dadhich made a proposal to build a 100 feet wide road parallel to the highway. In this, a plan was made to construct an 80 feet wide road and a 20 feet wide drain. This plan was accepted by the High Court as a better solution, but the then government refused to help in acquiring the land. Technical experts also said it was more useful due to the natural slope.

third proposal
After the army’s refusal regarding security, the administration had sent a proposal to the army, in which the plan to remove the drain from the army land was changed. Instead of taking out the drain coming out of army land openly, a plan was prepared to take it out by laying pipes, this proposal remained stuck in the Defense Ministry. Besides, the army also blocked the drainage of water by placing stones, after which this problem suddenly increased.

second proposal
RTO Nala is about 8 km long. At present 4.01 km is paved. The proposal was to remove a drain from the army land. For this, there was a need to acquire 1800 meters of army land and 1 bigha and 13 biswa land of private account holders. When the proposal was made, the estimated cost was Rs 20 crore, but due to no decision regarding the army land, this proposal could not move forward.
