Jodhpur’s ‘Jiji’ is no more, former BJP MLA dies, Gehlot expresses grief;

Jodhpur : Sad news is coming from Jodhpur city at this time. The city’s prominent political personality, social worker and former MLA from Sursagar assembly constituency Suryakanta Vyas (GG) passed away on Wednesday morning. 86-year-old GG was ill for a long time. She was undergoing dialysis for a long time. On Wednesday morning, her health deteriorated at her residence. After this, the family took her to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital (MGH), where the doctors declared her dead. Suryakanta Vyas’s death has caused a wave of mourning in Jodhpur city.

She was an MLA six times

Suryakanta Vyas, who started her political career as a councilor, has been an MLA six times. She won her first election in 1990 from Jodhpur city assembly constituency. After this, she reached the assembly by getting elected from the city assembly constituency three times. After delimitation, in 2008, she contested and won from Sursagar assembly constituency of Jodhpur. After this, she reached the House by winning from this assembly constituency three times in a row. In the 2023 assembly elections, the BJP changed the ticket on this seat. In his place, the BJP fielded new face Devendra Joshi.

was ill for a long time

Suryakanta Vyas is known as Jiji in Jodhpur city. Let us tell you that Jiji was suffering from health related diseases for the last 10 months. Earlier she was undergoing treatment at MDM Hospital. When her condition worsened, she was referred to Jodhpur AIIMS. She was admitted there several times. She was admitted to the ICU of AIIMS. During this time, many leaders including former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot came to know about her health. During this time, rumors of her death also spread on social media, which was denied by her son.

CM Bhajanlal expressed grief

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also posted on social media on the death of former MLA Suryakanta Vyas and wrote that ‘Received the sad news of the death of former MLA from Sursagar Assembly, senior member of BJP family Suryakanta Vyas ‘Jiji’. I met her a few days ago where I got the opportunity to receive her blessings and guidance. Her immense love and affection towards me always remained. Her death is an irreparable loss for the Bharatiya Janata Party family. My condolences are with the bereaved family. I pray to the Lord to give a place to the departed soul in his lotus feet and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense sorrow.’
