Lucknow, December 1 (IANS). The team of the Judicial Commission formed to investigate the violence that took place during the survey of Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal’s Sadar Kotwali area on Sunday 24th November, reached the Kotwali complex on Sunday.
The team, headed by retired High Court judge Devendra Kumar Arora, along with the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, reached the spot and took stock of the current situation. The Commission team also reached Shahi Jama Masjid and took stock of the situation there.
Moradabad Divisional Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh told the media, “The investigation commission team appointed by the government visited a site. During this time the Chairman and other members reached there and inspected the place. Their main objective was to evaluate the situation at the place, especially the area that was affected by the recent events. The investigation commission questioned the people present there and obtained information from them. “His visit was limited to inspection only, and a more detailed investigation would be required before any administrative decisions could be taken.”
He said, “Today’s visit was only for the purpose of observing the site and the situation there. The Commission of Inquiry asked me answers to some questions, and I answered those questions. After this, we were not given complete details of their investigation process and action. However, they will come to discuss this in more detail later. “The visit was limited to inspection only, and their plan is to investigate further action.”
He said, “Two members of the entire Commission team, i.e. the Chairman and one Member, visited the area today. When the rest of the team members arrive, they will do a detailed investigation and also consider other aspects as per their schedule. The team included about 10 people in today’s tour. During this time he inspected the place and took stock of the affected areas of the incident.”
He said, “The situation in Sambhal is normal at present. During this time, the team of the Investigation Commission inspected the situation and tried to understand the situation there. There was also police surveillance on the spot, and they kept the situation under control. According to the police, the situation is now returning to normal and will soon become completely normal.”
He said, “The District Magistrate has imposed a ban till December 10 regarding the entry of political parties. The situation is expected to become normal after this ban, and after that no political party will be stopped from coming. The aim of the administration is not to stop people from meeting.”
On the question of arrest, he said, “The administration has already made it clear that the arrest will be made solely on the basis of evidence and investigation. Whatever arrest will be made, it will be done only on the basis of solid evidence. The administration stressed that no accused would be arrested without sufficient evidence. No clear information has been given about how many arrests have been made so far, but a thorough investigation is being done to make the arrests.”
