Bhopal 24 November (IANS). The new Director General of Police of Madhya Pradesh will be Kailash Makwana. The order of his posting was issued late on Saturday night. Makwana will replace DGP Sudhir Kumar Saxena, who is retiring on November 30.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is going on a visit to two countries from Sunday and before that the decision on the new DGP of the state has been taken. IPS Makwana of the year 1988 batch is currently the Chairman of Police Housing.
Late on Saturday night, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department SN Mishra issued an order to make Makwana DGP. The order states that Makwana was selected in the selection committee meeting of the Union Public Service Commission on November 21.
Three names were being considered prominently for the post of DGP in the state, apart from Housing Board Chairman Makwana, the names of EOW DG Ajay Sharma and Home Guard DG Arvind Kumar were being prominently considered. Ultimately Makwana was entrusted with this responsibility.
His tenure will last till 30 November 2026. Kailash Makwana is originally from Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh and has done BE and MTech from IIT. Apart from Special DG of Lokayukta, he has held the posts of Special DG of CID, ADG Narcotics, ADG Admin, ADG Secret Negotiations and ADG Management.
It is expected that Sudhir Kumar Saxena will retire on November 30 and Makwana will take charge on December 1. Before the order for the new DGP was issued on Saturday night, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav discussed with Makwana for some time and after that the order for posting was issued.
Chief Minister Yadav is leaving on Sunday on a six-day foreign trip and during this trip itself, DGP Saxena was going to retire, hence it was necessary to decide on the name of the new DGP before the trip.
