Kalpana Soren lags behind in Gandey seat, BJP’s Muniya Devi ahead by more than 3 thousand votes.

Ranchi, 23 November (IANS). Amidst the results of Jharkhand Assembly elections, counting of votes is going on in Gandey seat and in the trends so far, BJP candidate Muniya Devi has taken a big lead. Muniya Devi is leading by more than 3 thousand votes, while Kalpana Soren, the Grand Alliance candidate and wife of state Chief Minister Hemant Soren, is lagging behind.

According to the Election Commission website, Kalpana Soren has received around 4 thousand votes so far. However, his distance from BJP’s Munia Devi is very high, he is maintaining a big lead. At the same time, independent candidate Rameshwar Dusadh has got very few votes from this seat, he has got only 132 votes so far.

Looking at the trends, it can be said that BJP’s Muniya Devi is maintaining her strong position on the Gandey seat and the position of Hemant Soren’s wife seems weak. If this situation continues with a difference of more than 3 thousand votes, then the path to victory will become difficult for Kalpana Soren.

Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren has been the biggest and popular star campaigner of JMM after Hemant Soren in this election. She came into politics in January this year after Hemant Soren went to jail and reached the Assembly by winning the by-election on this seat in June. On the other hand, his opponent Munia Devi has been the District Council President of Giridih district. She comes from OBC community and Gandeya is her maternal home.

Talking about the electoral history of Gandey seat, the first elections were held here in 1977. At that time, Janata Party candidate Laxman Swarnkar had hoisted the flag of victory from here. At that time this assembly constituency used to be a part of Bihar. In the next four elections held after this, Congress won once, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha twice and BJP once.

After the formation of Jharkhand, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha had won this seat twice. After this, Congress won in 2009. In 2014, this seat again came to BJP. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha had also won the 2019 elections. Now this time, all eyes will be on who will be successful in hoisting the flag of victory in the elections going to be held on this seat.
