Karoli: On the lines of Maharashtra, ban smart meters in the state too

Karauli : Karauli Electricity Corporation employees took out a rally from XEN office in Gulab Bagh to the Collectorate premises on Friday in protest against the privatization being done in the name of different processes and models in the generation, transmission and distribution corporations in the power sector. Later, the delegation submitted a memorandum to the District Collector in the name of ACS of the Energy Department regarding six-point demands, which also included demands like cancellation of smart meter tender. At around 11 am, the Electricity Corporation personnel reached the Superintendent Engineer (SE) office located at Barkheda, where they submitted a memorandum to the SE in the name of the Chief Minister, raising slogans against privatization. After this, all the corporation workers reached the Executive Engineer’s office of the corporation located near Gulab Bagh.

Here the corporation workers raised slogans against stopping CPF deduction and starting GPF deduction and against privatization. After this, the corporation workers reached Collectorate premises via Government College, Circuit House in a rally with banners and placards, wherever they raised slogans regarding their demands. Kotwali police station officer Sunil Kumar etc. were present. Ban on smart meters: In the memorandum submitted to the Collector, the delegation said that tenders for installing smart meters have been made under Rajasthan TN-199, whereas in the state of Maharashtra, a ban has been imposed on smart meters in view of their ill effects. In such a situation, it should be reconsidered and a ban should be imposed in Rajasthan also. Also, not getting the work done by private partnership in the names of outsource, FRT, contract and CLRC etc., not violating the Grid Seti Code, not giving the operation of the transmission corporation’s grids on contract through clusters, lack of funds to the power generation house. Giving an excuse, demands were made to stop the process of transfer by forming joint ventures with Central Public Corporations, to recruit permanent personnel for permanent works of technical nature and to stop CPF deduction and start GPF deduction.
