Karoli: Referral graph is increasing year after year. District hospital depends on 108 ambulances.

Karauli News Desk: The number of referrals of patients to the city’s district hospital is also increasing year after year. With the increase in the status of the hospital, patients have not been able to get relief through referral. Nor has there been an increase in vehicle resources to safely transport patients in serious condition to advanced hospitals. Due to lack of ambulance service in the hospital itself, most of the patients reach the higher level hospital with the help of 108 ambulances. In its absence, people have to take private ambulances. In which there is only oxygen cylinder in the name of saving life. In fact, in the last three decades, the hospital has been upgraded step by step from a community health center to a district hospital. With the increase in status, the number of patient admissions and referrals has also increased. But the hospital does not have ambulance facility for patient transportation. In such a situation, the family members of the patients have to call the ambulance by talking to the doctor at the call center of 108 ambulance service. Due to the ambulance being on other emergency calls, one has to wait for another ambulance to arrive. In such a situation, in case of emergency, the family members have to call a private ambulance and vehicle and take the patients to a higher level hospital. It is noteworthy that on an average 8-10 patients are referred from the district hospital every day. In such a situation, the graph of annual referrals even crosses the figure of 5 thousand.

District Hospital There are 19 ambulance vehicles to transport referred patients. Which transports patients to advanced hospitals on the number issued by the union. In these, only oxygen cylinders are available for survival. The patient remains dependent on the ambulance driver until he reaches one hospital to another. Ambulance Union President Virendra Singh said that all the drivers know how to start and stop oxygen as well as change the drip. The private ambulances here are non-emergency, but the health of the referred patient can deteriorate at any time. In such a situation, apart from oxygen cylinder, pulse oximeter and nebulizer are necessary. There should be a nursing assistant as an assistant. Protocol for private ambulances is also prescribed.
