Karauli : There is neither shortage of farmers nor crop production in Gudhachandraji district, but there are markets only at some selected places to sell the crops. The government made efforts to establish markets at some other places for the convenience of the farmers, but due to these efforts being incomplete, the farmers are not getting the benefit. Due to the apathy of the administration and public representatives, the construction work of the agricultural produce market yard near Manchadi village of Dalpura Panchayat of Gudhachandraji has not started even after one and a half decade. Farmers take their crops to the markets of places like Hindaun, Gangapur City, Todabhim, Lalsot, Dausa etc. to sell. Agricultural produce market yard was approved by the state government in Gudhachandraji town one and a half decade ago.
For the market, the Revenue Department had allotted 35 Bigha eight Biswa land in Manchadi village. About 10 years ago, fencing was done by clearing the kikar, acacia, bushes etc. from the land allotted by Hindaun Agricultural Produce Market Committee, but after that the work was stopped. Due to which the hopes of the farmers were dashed.
There are also hurdles due to rules: Due to hurdles in rules, the map of shops is not being passed. According to the rules, for the construction of the market, there should be applications from 10 licensed shopkeepers and their 3 years old licenses. Then one can apply for shops in the market. Farmer Ram Khiladi Meena of Timawa said that the rules should be amended. If preference is given to new license holders instead of 3 years, traders will get convenience. Mutharesh Gurjar of Manchadi said that if there is market facility in the local area, then farmers will not have to go out to sell jeans. The farmers of the area will benefit the most who will be able to sell their goods locally. However, about two years ago, the then MLA PR Meena had sent a letter to the Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister requesting to start the work of Gudachandraji’s Mandi Yard. Farmers, former sarpanch Ramkhiladi Meena, Sonu Meena, Bharatlal Meena, Mutharesh Gurjar etc. have sent a letter to the Chief Minister demanding the new government to start the mandi yard work.
