Karoli Water Resources Department prepared proposals worth Rs 17.42 crore for Rangma Pond.

Karauli News Desk: There is hope for the revival of the princely period Ranagama pond located at Karauli district headquarters. This time the monsoon caused injury to the historical pond due to excessive rainfall. There are wounds that require immediate healing. Keeping this in mind, on the instructions of the District Administration, proposals have been prepared by the Water Resources Department regarding the beautification including security of Rangamam Pond. On the instructions of the District Collector, the department has prepared proposals worth more than Rs 17.47 crore, which will be submitted to the State Government. Has been sent. Besides, Karauli MLA has also sent these proposals to the state government. Now, there is a need to take effective initiative at the state government level to give green signal to these proposals soon, so that the safety of the historical Rangamama pond can be maintained and the historical heritage of the city can be beautified.

The record of four decades was broken: Ranagama pond was constructed on Mandrayal road during the princely period. The elders of the city say that there have been heavy rains many times in the last few years, but this time the rain has broken the record of the last three-four decades. For the first time, water crossed the pond and reached the walls above.

Due to excessive water, the soil behind the protection wall behind the pond collapsed. About 100 to 150 feet of the wall collapsed, which also posed a threat to the safety of the pond. The District Collector and other officials took stock of the pond. Efforts were also made to prevent the soil from collapsing by installing earthen mounds.

Work needed before the upcoming monsoon: Sources in the Water Resources Department say that due to excessive rain during the monsoon, the soil near the park on the pond had collapsed. From safety point of view, it is important to stop the erosion of this soil. In such a situation, it would be better if these proposals get approved soon and the work starts as soon as possible, because there will be a possibility of further soil collapse during the upcoming monsoon. In such a situation, beautification work can be done later, but the security wall should be repaired immediately.
