Mumbai, November 22 (IANS). Former Aam Aadmi Party leader Mayank Gandhi, while speaking with IANS on Friday, criticized Arvind Kejriwal’s promises of giving ‘rewari’ (free goods) ahead of the assembly elections. He accused Arvind Kejriwal of compromising with the party’s founding values.
Mayank Gandhi accused Arvind Kejriwal of abandoning the core principles of the party for political greed and power. He said, “We had joined ‘AAP’ for alternative politics. None of us were professional politicians. We wanted to change the country. But Kejriwal was so consumed by the greed for power that it became worse than those parties. Whom we wanted to change. Kejriwal compromised the initial values of the party and formed an alliance with those whom he once considered corrupt. But today, they have all been abandoned in the party. Only position left, one from one family The same person will remain in office, this too will end soon.”
Expressing disappointment, Mayank Gandhi revealed that he had left politics in 2015 and now works with farmers. Comparing the political environment during the Emergency, he claimed that just as the public was betrayed then, AAP has betrayed the people now.
Criticizing Kejriwal’s leadership, he claimed that AAP had marginalized independent thinkers within the party. Kejriwal once told me: “I don’t want people with brains in the party, I just want people who listen to me.” Therefore many capable people left the party.
Regarding free election promises, he said that free things are dangerous for the country. Remember Venezuela, a country in South America. It used to be one of the developed countries, but look where it is now. Unfortunately, this trend is spreading.
Speaking on the politics of Maharashtra, Mayank Gandhi said that there is only hunger for power here. Such politics is harmful for the country.
