Kirit Somaiya files complaint in EC against Maulana Khalil-ur-Rehman, alleging hate speech

New Delhi, November 16 (IANS). Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kirit Somaiya has written a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, appealing for action against All India Muslim Personal Law Board spokesperson Maulana Khalil-ur-Rehman Sajjad Nomani. He has accused Nomani of violating the code of conduct.

He wrote in his letter, “We are enclosing here the speech, an appeal to the Muslim community, in which Muslims have been instigated in the name of religious fanaticism and social boycott of Muslims who voted for BJP has been called. The speech is widely circulated on social media.”

In the letter he further wrote, “Maulana is asking Muslims to boycott those Muslims who vote for BJP. Maulana Sajjad Nomani said in his speech, we should salute such people, you are giving money to mosques along with voting, tell them that our name is no longer the name of Muslims, we are slaves from today. In another speech, Maulana Sajjad Nomani has also appealed to Muslims for Vote Jihad. We request to take appropriate action.”

Kirit Somaiya is continuously talking about irregularities in the election process. He had claimed in a press conference on November 11 that in just four days, more than Rs 125 crore was deposited in some accounts. He had also clarified his point through some evidence. He said, “In Malegaon, a person named Siraj Ahmed and Moin Khan together opened two dozen benami accounts in a cooperative bank, in which accounts were present in different states including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana, Odisha, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh. Money was sent from the branches to these benami accounts.”

“In just four days, more than Rs 125 crore was deposited in these accounts. After this, Siraj Ahmed and Moeen Khan transferred the money back to 37 different accounts and then it was also withdrawn. In total, 2,500 bank transactions were done. In which Rs 125 crore money was sent and the same amount was also withdrawn.

Also under discussion are the 17 demands put forward by the Ulema Board. The Ulema Board had said in its letter that it is ready to support the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance in the upcoming assembly elections. But, he has one condition that when Mahavikas Aghadi comes to power, he should fulfill its demands. On this, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee wrote a letter saying that all these demands are acceptable to it. Ulema Board Chairman Naib Ansari made this letter public on his social media Facebook on October 31.
