Kota airport will be built in two phases, construction will start in May 2025

Kota : Kota’s greenfield airport will be constructed by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) in two phases. The time period for both the phases has been fixed in the DPR. The work on the first phase will start in May 2025 and will be completed by 2028. This phase has been designed with an estimate of 2 MPPA (Enum per Million Passengers). That is, an annual traffic of 20 lakh passengers is assumed. The work of the second phase will start from 2043 and will end in 2046. It will be developed with an estimate of 6 MPPA, i.e. 60 lakh passengers per year. 440.646 hectares of land has been obtained for the airport, which will be used accordingly.

Now the tender process will start very soon

The DPR process will be completed in 7 to 10 days. Parallel to this, tender documents for civil works related to the airport will be prepared. Tenders can be floated by the end of next month. The tender process is expected to be completed between February-March. AAI has set a deadline of May 2025 to start the work. But according to the current pace, experts believe that the work will start before this.

This work in the first phase

45 meter wide 3200 meter long runway, two link taxi-way, terminal building, whose total built up area is 20 thousand square meters, air traffic control tower cum technical block, different categories of aprons, GSE handling area, fire station. (Category-7), Workshop, Isolation Bay, Airside Operational Boundary, AGL & Visual Aids for CAT operations, High Mast Lighting, Perimeter road, storm water drainage, property boundary, CCR hall, CNS facilities, localizer, DVOR, glide path etc. will be constructed.

Terminal building as per demand including upgradation of runway, 23 meter wide parallel taxi track and three link taxi ways, 15 additional parking stands, cargo terminal of 2 thousand square meter, general aviation block, management building, maintenance building, airport security building, CCR room, Aeronautical ground lighting, separate building for CNS system, operational security wall and watch tower, MRO and Flight Training Organization, AAI Residential Colony and Hangars.
