Kota shifted the male cub from Abheda Biological Park to Ramgarh enclosure.

Kota : Kota The male cub of Ranthambore’s tigress, growing in Abheda, was released in the 5 hectare enclosure of Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve. After the death of tigress T-114 two years ago, her two cubs were shifted to Abheda. This is probably the first such case in the state, in which a cub brought from the forest was kept in a zoo and released into the forest again. After getting the approval from the Ministry of Forest and Environment, the male cub was released in Ramgarh, while the female cub will be released in Mukundara Hills. At present, the male cub will be monitored 24 hours in the enclosure. Hard release will be done once he has adapted to the jungle environment and starts hunting naturally.

this is how the shift was done

The process for shifting of the cub started at 10 am. The team of doctor Tejendra Riyad from Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve, specialist doctor Rajeev Garg from Rananthbhaur and Dr Vilas Rao Gulhane of Wildlife tranquilized the cub at 10.30 am. After examining his health, the team left for Bundi Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve at 11:15 am. At 2:18 pm the cub was released into the 5 hectare enclosure. The shifting process was done in the presence of Divisional Chief Forest Conservator RK Khairwa, Sub Forest Conservator of Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve Muthu S, Anurag Bhatnagar of Wildlife and Deputy Forest Conservator of Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve Sanjeev Sharma, former Forest Officer Daulat Singh Shaktawat, Rajshekhar of WWF. Hui.

Took samples, measured

After tracheolizing, the cub’s blood and other necessary samples were collected and measured. According to officials, the cub is healthy. Usually the neck of a tiger is around 60 cm, this one was measured around 75 cm. The weight came out to be 162 kg, when he came his weight was 7 to 8 kg.

Journey from jungle to zoo, from zoo to jungle again

According to Dr. Riyad, this is the first such example in the state when cubs were taken care of in this manner without their mother. Brought from the forest to the park and released into the forest at the age of about two years. The male cub of tigress T 114 was released in a 5 hectare enclosure built in Jaitpur range. The cub was released with a radio collar. After acclimatizing to the forest environment, it can be released into the open forest in two to six months. The female cub will also be released in Mukundhara soon.
