Sirohi : Due to below average rainfall in Sirohi district, water in the dams of many areas of Kalandri tehsil has reduced. Due to which the process of dying of fishes continues. Thousands of fish have died in the last 10 days in Poydara dam of sub-tehsil Kalandri.
Contractor Mohammad Altaf told that he has been taking the contract for fish for a long time. This year he had taken the contract for fishing in Poydara dam of sub tehsil Kalandri. Due to less rainfall, fish are continuously dying in the dam. During the last 10 days, many fish have died and are floating on the water. In this regard, he has informed the concerned officials of the Fisheries Department as well as the district administration. On the other hand, religious people of the village expressed concern over the death of fishes in Poydara Dam and said that the environment is also being polluted due to the death of fishes. In this matter, the Fisheries Department or the District Administration should take some concrete steps, so that the fishes do not die.
