Leopards will reach Gandhi Sagar Century via Jhalawar district

Jhalawar : There is good news for the residents of Jhalawar district. Jhalawar district has also been included in the Cheetah Project of the Central Government. If everything happens on time and if the report is positive, Jhalawar district will soon be included in the Kuno Project. Under the Cheetah Project, the Central Government has planned for the next 25 years for the conservation of cheetahs settled in Kuno of Madhya Pradesh. Under this, a large cheetah conservation area will be developed covering 17 districts of three states including Rajasthan. The Central Government has also started work in this direction.

This has been disclosed in its annual report for the year 2023-2024 released by the National Tiger Conservation Authority on the occasion of completion of two years of the Cheetah Project. Starting the work in this direction, apart from Kuno National Park, the new home of cheetahs in Gandhi Sagar, Madhya Pradesh is almost ready. Soon new preparations will also be seen here. Jhalawar district of Rajasthan has also been included in 17 districts. In such a situation, along with tigers, a colony of leopards will also be seen in Mukundhara. In such a situation, due to increase in the number of tourists in the district, the economic condition of the district will also improve and the youth will also get employment.

These districts will be included-

Cheetah conservation area will include Sawai Madhopur, Baran, Kota, Karauli, Jhalawar, Bundi and Chittorgarh districts of Rajasthan and Sheopur, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Morena, Ashok Nagar, Guna, Neemuch, Mandsaur districts of Madhya Pradesh. The forest areas of the districts will be part of this corridor. Whereas the forest areas of Jhansi and Lalitpur of Uttar Pradesh will come under this zone.

Leopards have come from Kuno to Rajasthan

In fact, the leopards brought to Kuno National Park have shown the way to the corridor. Kuno’s leopards have crossed the border many times and reached the border of Rajasthan. Similarly, he has also reached the border of Uttar Pradesh. Later he was tranquilized and brought back. Due to this, efforts have been made to include 7 districts of Rajasthan in the Cheetah Corridor.
