Life imprisonment to the accused in Barmer rape case

Barmer : The crime of rape is an attack on the honor and dignity of a woman. This crime is not only a crime against that girl, but against the entire society. The girl has suffered physical and mental trauma due to the rape incident. Presiding Officer Hukamsingh Rajpurohit said this while giving the verdict after the hearing in the POCSO court in the case of rape of a private teacher with a six-year-old innocent girl who had gone for tuition.

In the case, accused Mustaq Ali was sentenced to life imprisonment (imprisonment till the remaining natural life) and a fine of Rs 50 thousand. Special public prosecutor Manaram Vishnoi appeared on behalf of the government in the case. Complainant’s advocate Vagtaram Chaudhary presented his arguments. After hearing the arguments of the advocates of both the parties, on Saturday, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act 2012 and Child Rights Protection Commission Act 2005, Special Judge of Balotra (POCSO Court) Hukamsingh Rajpurohit sentenced the accused.

According to the case, on September 25, 2023, the victim’s mother presented a report at Sedwa police station and said that her 6-year-old daughter studies in school and goes to private teacher Mustaq Ali resident of Bandhaniya PS Sedwa for tuition. At around 1 pm on September 25, Mustaq dismissed the other children and sent them home. He kept his daughter alone in his house and tried to rape her by removing her clothes.

After registering the report, the police, after investigation, arrested the accused Mustaq Ali and presented him in the court. From where the accused was sent to judicial custody. After hearing the statements of the witnesses in the case and hearing the arguments of the advocates of both the parties, the presiding officer Himmat Singh Rajpurohit sentenced the accused to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 50,000. At the same time, orders were given to deposit an amount of Rs 5 lakh in the account of the victim as compensation for the mental and physical trauma she suffered.
